Choosing the right shower door for your tub or shower can make or break the outcome of your bathroom space. Shopping online will uncover many options to choose from. Our Shower Door Teams will review the pros and cons of the below shower types with you and help to choose the best option for your project.
Sliding Shower Doors
Sliding shower doors are the most poplular. These take up the least amount of space and slide side to side. They are ideal for corner, stand-alone showers, and bathtubs. You have several options relating to the number of slides and how they are used. Our team will go over these with you to determine the best solution for your needs.
Trackless Shower Doors
These are swinging doors for your shower and do not have a track in the doorway. There are two variations:
- Pivot doors. These doors open both inward and outward and can be hinged on either side of the door. The floor mounted hinge allows for 180-degree rotation. Depending on your space, the hinge can be centered to allow for a 360-degree rotation. These doors are more modern.
- Hinged doors. These work more like and actual door as the hinges are anchored directly to the wall allowing for adjustable height. It is more commonly found in stand-alone showers.
Neo-Angle Shower Doors
Neo-Angle doors are best for tight-spaces and corner showers. This creates a diamond shape floor space for showering and is centered between two side panels. The door is desinged to open out into the room to maximize space.
Bi-Fold Shower Doors
Bi-fold or tri-fold shower doors are made up of several glass panels. These doors are used to save space as they do not require a lot of clearance.
Curved Shower Doors
These shower doors provide more room in a small space making it easier to enter and exit. They fit in rounded shower trays or flush with tile floors and are ideal for corner shower stalls. They are also much easier to clean because there is no need to dig between cracks on the curved glass to reach grime and buildup.
Frameless Shower Doors
Frameless shower doors are more costly as they require thicker glass for stability. However, if you your shower stall to show off some beautiful tile work and it is within your budget, the frameless door would be a great option for you.
Glass Options
There are several glass options for your shower door as well.
- Clear which is the most popular. Makes a bathroom look bigger and lets in light, but it doesn't hide dirt or grime.
- Frosted is ideal for privacy while still allowing in light. It hides streaks better and comes in a variety of colors.
- Tinted comes in a variety of tines including gray, bronze, or black. Several tones would require a light within the shower stall.
- Rain is great for more natural stylistic elements. One side looks like water droplets and the other is smooth. Provides great privacy, hides streaks, and allows in plenty of light.
